No Color Swatch "Fill" Option in Properties Panel

Hi all, somewhat of a newbie here...I'm having difficulty opening color swatches. I want to fill some shapes I'm working on, but in my properties panel, "fill" is not highlighted, so I am unable to select and choose any colors. No issue with stroke or opacity. I'm sure it's something simple - I just can't figure it out! Thanks in advance for your help!

I had to check the actual fill box, instead of the word "fill." I knew it was simple - just starting out. Thanks for your help!
