Object not importing as TIF in Illustrator

Hi,

I have a problem with Illustrator and/or Photoshop on Windows. I'm copying a layer from Photoshop to Illustrator and Illustrator tells me it's an object type: image of format NA, transparent: no. When I repeat the exact same steps on my Macbook, Illustrator tells me it's an object type: image of format TIF, transparent: yes.

Both Photoshop and Illustrator are at their latest versions on Mac and Windows. I've checked both their settings and there doesn't seem to be any differences. The only thing I did notice was that on Mac, Illustrator creates a tmp file in a location. This is not the case in Windows.

Help would be greatly appreciated.
