Opacity Mask with Freeform Gradient

I noticed that the opacity mask does not work with freeform gradient. (See attachement). When you leave the mask, the gradient disappears. This seems to be the case in the AI ​​beta version 25.2, in version 25.1 and in 24.3, but I notice it for the first time now. Is this a bug?
