Pen Tool Precise Cursors always changing back on their own, even when selected

Anyone ever experienced this? Seems like a bug to me but I have noticed it for a year or more. I will go to preferences to switch back to precise cursors, and it is already checked, or vice versa, and when I check or uncheck it will switch, even if it is telling me the opposite. It's been annoying me for some time, and it has happened to me on multiple accounts and machines. Someone fix this? Please? Or just make precise cursors the only option!

Are you trashing the preferences after each time? if yes it will go to the normal poistion.
