Points along path don't stay highlighted even when selected

Hi there,

I am using AI CC This just started happening today and I have not changed anything that I am aware of to cause it. Basically I use the direct selection tool to select a path or point on the path. It selects it but it is not highlighted so I can't see that it is selected. Also when I Select All, only the very outside perimeter of what I have selected is highlighted, not each path which used to be highlighted. I have attached 2 videos.

I have reset all preferences and restarted. Then I uninstalled every version of AI and reinstalled the most recent.

I figured it out! Very simple actually. I had to unhide edges.
