Pressing command key causes work area to go white

Haven't found any post with this issue so looking for some help.

When pressing command key the first time after opening a document the entire work area goes white and stays that way. Once it's white, pressing  cmd or spacebar turns screen red or blue sometimes. (Screenshot)

Using two finger zoom I can see the artboards, but returns to white when I let go.

I have astute graphics plugins installed all up to date. Not sure if that could be an issue but have been using them succesfully for weeks.

Impossible to work on a document this way.

Any thoughts on this?

Not yet.

My workaroudn right now is using Ai 2020.

Was thinkgin it may have somethin to do with Astute Graphics plugins as I do not have those installed in 2020 version.

Do you use thos plugins?

What OS & AI version are you running.

This sounds like a redraw issue, and nothing is wrong with your file. Try disabling your GPI

View >> View Using CPU

You can also use the hotkey command E to toggle that setting and look up in your file name to confirm what mode you are in.

Mac OS Big Sur 11.2.3

AI 2021 - Astute graphics plugin installed and up to date

Chanign view to CPU did not fix the issue.

I still have AI 2020 installed and it is not experiencing the issue.

So i had the same problem. i uninstalled astute buddy and direct prefs and it all works fine now, including the remaining astute graphics plugin. suspect the problem is with astute buddy since it controls keyboard commands. Anyway, no more "command key toggles white screen" on my machine 🙂
