Hello Community,
I've been having issues sending a multi-layer illustrator file over gmail and wetransfer. Every time the person receives it, they only see one layer. I don't know why either gmail or wetransfer would compress layer files. The only thing I can think of why this would happen is that the person has the 2020 Illustrator and I have the 2021 version. But even then it seems unlikely. Anyone know why illustrator files cannot be sent over web without losing its multi layer properties?
Thanks

CobaltBlue,
What happens if you zip the file (generally recommended to avoid corruption)?
Or what happens if you downsave to 2020?

I'm working on a PC while the other person is on a mac. The program used to zip my files are different from the other persons. I have tried to send files that way but Macs cannot open a PC zipped file. As for the downsave, I can try that and see how that goes. Thank you.

You are welcome, CobaltBlue.
There are some strangenesses going on between Win and Mac.
Have yous considered upload/download using own sites (if any) or one of the services of that kind?
I hope you will report your findings.

When sending Illustrator files? Not at all.
There are different versions installed, one of them needs a proper tool for zipping/unzipping and and that's it.
