Problems making picture a vector image with Adobe Illustrator

trying to make a picture a vector image so I can make a giant mural.

-imported the images into photoshop

-merged them onto one level

-saved as a jpg

-loaded into AI

-choose Image Trace

-selected my pic

-selected High Fidelity Photo

It runs thru a cycle where it is changing the photo

but then I blow up on the photo and it hasn't become a vector image

appreciate any adice

What makes you think that it hasn't become a vector image?

Autotracing a raster image will technically make it a vector image. But that doesn't mean it will be scalable or that it will look better when scaled.

Well I accidentally got it to work. Need to learn how to make it scaleable everytime
