After I upgraded to the new Illustrator CC 2018 I have major problems with selecting my text!
Normally I could double click with my black arrow and the whole text was selected. Now it's not possible anymore.
Also using the "T" (text cursor) does hardly work. It's giving me a lot of frustration and irritation! It even slows me down a lot!!
My collegae has the same issue.
Can anybody help me please? What can I do to make it workable again?
Linda
Check Preferences > Type if "Selection by text path only" is checked. If so: uncheck

I have issues similar to that. I posted about it but was ignored. Something very odd with it- and I'm noticing it with others when I watch Twitch (Creative) of others streaming themselves making art. If I double click a text line, I should be locked in to that text line. But if i'm not exactly over the right spot to highlight the text then Illustrator just creates a new text area. It is frustrating.

Thank you so much Monika Gause! That was indeed the problem! 🙂
I hope it also works for you Chris Scotts!

Glad you got it sorted out! Mine was already unchecked. So my problem still remains. I think they broke something in the last update.

This did not fix the issues I'm having with the update. The font handling is glitchy at best.
Very Frustrating.

This isn't fixing the problem for me. Does anyone have any other ideas?
Thanks,
