"Draw Inside" Drawing Mode Issues

I've created a simple drawing of a man using the shape builder tool. I want to enhance the drawing by adding shadows. When I use the draw inside function to ensure that my shading doesn't escape the parameters of the shape I have selected the outline of the shape will disappear once I am finished. This does not happen when I draw a rectangle or star, for instance, using one of those drawing tools. Can someone explain why the outline of my work keeps being removed and provide me with a solution?

I have simulated the issue in the following one minute video: https://youtu.be/CdvAp6ZkTf0

I tested it on my Windows 10 machine, but the stroke didn't disappear. So I checked to see if there was some sort of bug reported on Uservoice. I may have found the answer. It seems that there is a bug (the reported bug says two fills, but I tested it with two strokes and it disappears when you draw inside).

So to fix it, select your shape and open your Appearance panel. See if there is more than one stroke applied. If so, remove one, and then you should be able to draw inside and retain the stroke.
