How do I add a gradient to a swatch group?

RE: The wretched gradients are currently not tolerated inside swatch folders …

Why can I not drag my gradients into the Libraries Panel. When is this going to change? Very basic necessity to organizing assets and colors inside the Libraries panel.

[Branched: this question is about libraries, not swatch groups]

This is a question for the illustrator team! and or to the CC team.

At the moment Gradients and Patterns are not supported by the Cloud Libraries.

Hi chanaart,
it seems like it's a very long lasting or stretched moment, as we now have 2021 XD.
Is there any solution regarding the topic of gradient-/pattern-swatch implementation in CC-library?
best regards, M.

Hi, I just found out a way to add gradients to the Library (I'm using Photoshop by the way):

• Draw a shape or whatever you want with the desired gradient applied (or the colors of the gradient stops on it).

• With the layer selected, open the Libraries panel.

• Click on the "+" icon, bottom right of the panel

• Select "Create from image"

• A window will pop with some options on the top as tabs: Patterns, Shapes, Color Themes, Gradients.

• Select Gradients, choose the number of gradient stops and drag the eyedrop to the colors.
• Save to the CC Libraries.

I hope this helps.

But as a workaround, create obects and fill them with gradients and patterns.

Drag (add) those objects to a CC library.

When you want to use them in another document, Alt drag them from your library to place them embedded.

No, it works for Illustrator files.

Gradient exchange between applications (and especially between Photoshop and other apps) are almost impossible.
