Release a scan pasted into a shape?

I opened an old drawing into new version of illustrator. In that drawing there is a scanned design pasted into a shape. Now I can't release scan from shape. How do I do that? OR do I have to rescan and redraw?

Release clipping mask is not an option I can select.

Have you tried looking in the Layers panel and dragging the scan outside of the mask within the layer hirarchy?
