Saving files in Illustrator 2021

I'm trying to save a 328kb vector file to another location on my computer. It gets stuck at 1% progress and I end up force quitting Illustrator. Then it won't open again. I've even restarted my computer twice trying to get Illustrator to work properly. This is not good for my job! HELP?
