I've been asked to create a lot of icons for a new website, and the size was specified as 48 x 48 pixels, SVGs. I made a 48 x 48 artboard preset in Illustrator, and worked within it. But when I uploaded 48 x 48 icons to the website CMS, the images didn't show, and they forced the accompanying text to move.

The developer told me: "The svg you uploaded is missing width and height which results in 0x0 display when in the design, if you open only the svg it will get displayed but only because the browser will then put 100%x100% which cannot happen in the design."

How can I make sure that the correct size data accompanies the image file?

No matter if I use Save as or Export for Screens, Illustrator includes the ViewBox information.

So maybe your developer should be slightly more precise on what needs to be included.

BTW: which version do you use? I tested version 2020
