Im trying to scale up vectors to use on a project, but I end up with really thick lines for the right size.
I have tried to tick the "Scale strokes and effects" on and off, but it doesnt seem like anything is happening.

Eva,
I believe the simplest way is to use the Offset Path as described by Ton on the version that is scaled up.
It looks as if it can give (approximately) the 16:9 proportion for the centre of the inner rectangle.

Are you sure that these are still lines and not outlined strokes?

The stroke panel it crossed over so I think its still lines?

That means no stroke, just filled outline objects.
"Scale strokes and effects" will not work.
Maybe a negative Effect > Path > Offset Path will help.

Eva,
As far as I can see, the line thicknesses scale up with the overall size, so I believe it is just more overwhelming.
I believe you will see something quite similar if you simply zoom in on the original size to a corresponding level.
So maybe it is a matter of changing the proportions of the original artwork, whether as stroked lines or filled paths, in other words starting over at a size/zoom level that gives the desired size to look at when working on it.

Thanks Jacob
I think you are right. The origibal size is extremely small and I need to size it up to fit 16:)9.
Any idea how I can change the original proportions to make it just a bit thinner (not so overwhelming)?

Select one and open the Appearance palette. What does it say?
