School project - how to crop

Hey guys. Ive got some school project. I need to crop that logo:

How to crop that excess of bavarian patter? Many thanks for any help

Does it need to really go away or would a clipping mask be sufficient (which will just hide it)

Actually cropped or hidden by a clipping mask (with a copy of your circle) ?

In addition to what Monika said you can reapply the Stroke to the circle after clicking it with the Direct Selection Tool the get the (new) BMW look (Ungroup from the cross if they form a Group before applying the mask)

Edit: Or use a copy of the circle, as Hans-Jürgen said while I was still working on the above.

Please use (ONLY) a copy of your circle. The lines must not be selected.
