Selection tool issue in Adobe Illustrator CC2020 v24.1 in macOS 10.14.6

adobe illustrator 24.1 mac OS10.14.6  this problem began after apple security update 3 days ago 

wired mouse + wireless track pad behaves as if the pointer (select tool) is always selected (mouse cicked) when using the select tool

deselect requires 2-3 clicks

photoshop CS6 works correctly on the same computer

Sorry to hear about your experience. I would recommend updating Illustrator to latest version 24.1.2 

You may also try resetting preferences of the Adobe Illustrator. Please try following help article https://helpx.adobe.com/illustrator/using/setting-preferences.html#setting_illustrator_preferences 

**Please note that resetting preferences will remove all the custom settings and Illustrator will launch with default settings. You can also take a backup of the folders in case you want to. Location is mentioned in the article.

I  updated Illustrator to version 24.1.2 and reset the preferences but the problem remains as before. This problem exists on version 23.1.1  DOES NOT EXIST On version 21.1.0
