Selection Tool will not allow me to change the size

Hi,
Has anyone else found that their selection tool (since the update) has stopped allowing them from changing the size without having to go through the left-click and use the transform tool. I have put a screenshot below of how it looks. If someone knows how to change it back, it will save me a huge amount of time and frustration.

Either View > Show Bounding Box or use the Selection Tool (V)
