Stroked Corners Are Filling With Color

Please see attached. When this is a line with a stroke the corner is filling. And when I expand it it comes to a single line. What is the fix as this isn't ready to expand yet. Thanks!

If you switch to CPU preview (View > Preview on CPU), does it change?

If you adjust the path slightly, does it go away?
