Suggestion to easily ID character and paragraph styles

It would be nice to have a feature to easily identify different character and paragaraph styles in Illustrator (and InDesign).

My suggestion would be a feature similar to (or included within) "Show Hidden Characters," which could be turned on or off, where styles used in a document would be color coded. You could select your colors for each style similar to the way we select layer colors now. Then at a glance it would be possible to double check that all of your text is formatted correctly.

To add to this, there could be a secondary indicator for text using a style that has been altered, similar to the + we see in the styles panels now.
