Sweater on coat hanger help

[Sweet Storm]

I know I'm missing something simple here, but I cant wrap my head around it. I'm trying to make the sweater, excluding the inner collar, in front of the hanger while the inside collar stays behind it and have the hanger's hook still visible above the sweater. I've tried using masks but it makes the whole hanger disappear. This seems like something I'm just missing off the top of my head, but I missed my coffee this morning and I'm out of ideas lol. Anyone have any advice?

Use a clipping mask.

If it didn't work before, describe step-by-step what you did.

The mask should be in front of any objects you want to clip.

There was nothing preventing you doing it in Illustrator.
