There is a picture of the image in Illustrator and  picture of the image when it goes into Character Animator.

I have worked on it for about 5 hours and now I've figured to take it 'upstairs' to the community.

Someone please tell me what I am missing so I can move forward with this project!

I have also posted in the Character Animator community in case it's something I've done wrong in there.

You used clipping masks in Illustrator and obviously Character Animator can't deal with them. So you might need to bite the bullet and draw shapes.

Next time please embed your screenshots in your post instead of attaching them. Thank you.
