I'm guessing your logo is made up of vectors. You can select your logo, go to the Transform panel and enter the size you want. For example: type in 4in for the width value and it will give you the pixel value of 4in. Just make sure that your width and height values are linked to retain the proper proportion.
You can also go into your Preferences and switch over to Inches. Just hit Comm+K on a Mac or Ctrl+K on a PC to bring up your Preferences, on the left column choose Units and change the General value to Inches.

How exactly do you “transfer” the logo to the business card? What do you mean by “made in pixel format” - is it raster or vector?

Your logo created in Pixel format may be very small, so when you bring into another document the pixels are making the logo look bitmapped.
If the logo is an illustrator file, you could increase the pixel count of the logo document first, then import/link into Illustrator.
It will all depend on the original format of the logo file.
You can change the document size/setting at the Document Setup under FILE, you can change from whatever format of measurement in the file. You have complete control over measurement units and sizes.
