Trim marks for a book cover (spine)

Hi,

I've prepared a book cover in Illustrator and need to send it to printers. I can't figure out how to create trim marks for the spine. Using the trim marks on PDF export just creates trim marks on the corners of the artboard and same with the Crop Marks effect. When I create editable trim marks on an object, they don't appear on the PDF like regular trim marks do. Please help!

You need to group the marks on the opposing sides, so that the group is technically inside the artboard. And then it gets exported into the PDF when you add sufficient bleed.
