trying to recreate printed edge on vector line in illustrator

Hi, I'm trying to recreate a printed edge similar to the image below. I am guessing it might be a brush effect (I am not looking for a blur!) Any ideas greatly received!

Jacobs suggestion will make you happy, but you can also try Effect > Roughen with a small size and high detail.

Ah, Ton, now I see what you see, and that roughening will make M much happier.

My misinterpretation was that of a decorative border (created by repetition) on the outside of a (white) path.
