Typing on a path vertical orientation, then saving in SVG but it saves horizontal

I have text on a curved path that needs to be vertical. When I have finished the project I save it as an SVG. I then proceed to open the SVG saved file and the font has reverted to horizontal but has continued to follow my path. I am curious what I am doing wrong in the saving process. I have tried grouping all the items and then saving and it still reverts back to horizontal. Please help.

You will probably need to outline the text when saving (or before saving)

I'm not sure i understand completely. Outline the text how? I tried higlighting the font and that didnt work, I also tried selecting the path and the font or jsut the path and that didnt work either.

My mistake, I found the Create Outlines option under the Type drop down. Thank you very much for the help
