Unable to launch Illustrator 25.3.1 on Windows machine

I work in as a technical writer/illustrator.  At least two of the computers in our office are having issues with the latest update 25.3.1.  The program does not open when selecting a file and performing Open With>Adobe Illustrator 2021. The program does not open from the start menu.  The program does not open directly from the Illustrator.exe file.  If you try to unistall Illustrator with Creative Cloud, it tells you that you can't because the program is open.  If you go to the Task Manager with less detail, Illustrator does not show open, however, if you select more detail, you may see 14 or more processes for Illustrator currently open.  After a lot of investigation by myself and our I.T. Department, we've discovered that if we try to open Illustrator 3 to 4 times it will eventually open but that is a nusance.  I use "open with" on .pdf files many times in a day and this slows me down.  Leaving the program open is okay but requires mousing to the File>Open pull down and browsing to the file I want to open.  More mouse clicks and moving around than Right Click>Open With>Adobe Illustrator 2021.  Is anyone in the community experiencing issues like this with v25.3.1?

I was having similar problems with the new update and what worked for me was performing a Disk Repair on my Mac. I hope that helps someone.

I found this fix... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qC2RIZHNbAE... However after you get illustrator working you will need to go back in and put it back after you get everything going, otherwise you will not be able to print afterwards.

Hi there,

Sorry to hear about this unusual behaviour by the application. I would request you to share a few more details like:

  • Does this issue start happening right after updating the application to v25.3.1 or later?
  • Which operating system is this?
  • Are there any recent changes made to your system? For example, any antivirus, system updates, or web extensions installed recently.

I would also suggest you to try the suggestions shared by @marliton. Let us know if this helps. Looking forward to your response.

Regards,

Anshul Saini

Windows 10 -cannot open Illustrator, update fails.  Uninstall Illustrator & try to reinstall from Creative Cloud Desktop, and the installation fails also.
