unwanted border around png file when opening in illustrator

I have a .png file that doesn't have a border around it but when I open the png file in illustrator it has a thin black border around it. how can I open the file without the border?

Can you show a screenshot?

Note also that raster files opened in Illustrator will include an artboard the same size as the last settings used; perhaps this is what you are seeing.
