User defined brushes reset to basic with scaling

I use saved textured brushes in all of my work but since the update, whenever I scale my finished work up or down, the brush strokes I've used get reset to the basic one and are all the same width.

I've tried 'scale strokes & effects' but this doesn't help.

Ooh I think I've fixed it for now - I changed to view using CPU and it seems to be ok? Must be a GPU bug?I'm using Illustrator 25.0 on Catalina 10.15.7

Ooh I think I've fixed it for now - I changed to view using CPU and it seems to be ok? Must be a GPU bug?

The GPU vs. CPU preview thing permanently causes irritations.
