Weird bright display colors 25.2.3

Since updating to the latest version some image files are displaying crazily bright. These are CMYK images - opening them makes it appear as if they've been converted to RGB and someone has whacked up the saturation. Some files do it, others don't. It doesn't matter if they are PDFs / EPSs / AIs etc.

 

This is on Mac Big Sur 11.3.

 

Is this a bug?

Please check the color management settings. They might have been reset to "Emulate Illustrator 6", which would be wrong.
