Hi - this is driving me crazy and I don't know if there's a way to turn it off. I typically work in the Swatches window and have all our required swatch colors saved there. Every time I switch from an object's fill to it's stroke to adjust the swatch color, Illustrator switches from the Swatch window to the Color window, and I have to go back to Swatches to then change the stroke.
So for example: draw a rectangle, it has a black fill and a white stroke. I have the Swatches window open, and adjust the fill with a swatch. Then, with the same object selected, I click on the stroke in the toolbar, and before I can say "bob's your uncle" Illustrator closes the Swatches window and opens the Color window. So I now have an extra series of clicks to adjust the stroke color.
Is there a way to turn this off or something I'm missing?
You do not need to click the fill or stroke in the toolbar.
You can press X and switch between fill and stroke.
Or you if you like clicking, you can stay in the Swatches panel and click the fill or stroke proxy there.
