Hi everyone! I'm unable to use white fill colour for the ellipse, even though other colours seem to work. I changed the artboard colour to dark grey in order to see it but its still not visible.

Hey yes! But how can I view it normally against the dark grey artboard?

Your default artboard color is paper white.

Which means it tries to simulate the color of the paper you will be printing on.

You can change the paper color simulation in your Document Setup, but it is not a real color that will print or export.

If you fill objects with white, you can use the transparency grid to see them or create a temporary background on the bottom layer.

So ,you are saying that even if I change the artboard colour to grey , while printing ,it would still appear as the default white artboard .

Silviya,

You can use the transparency grid as suggested by Ton, or the grid which is subtler, or you can create an actual background object which you can lock.
