Why are my files saving smaler?

I drew an image, image traced it and expanded it. Then I made it so it fit the 8x10 inch art board. Then I saved it as a .jpg. When I uploaded it to a website, they told me the image size was only about 1x2 inches. What am I doing wrong?

You probably saved it with 72 ppi instead of whatever is suitable for the type of printing you're after.
