Why do these outlining strokes look different?

CC on a Mac. Below is a link to a single artboard containing 3 photos. (I hope I'm doing this right!). I've outlined these images with half point strokes. Could someone tell me why the stroke on the right photo looks so much heavier?

The only difference I can see is: the light stroked image is linked and the heavier one is embedded.
