Why does my path look so jagged?

This has never happened before so I'm not sure what's causing it. When I mouse over my path, the red outline looks straight, but on it's own it looks very wobbly.

 When moused over:

Without:

Is there a way to fix this? How will it appear when printed? I'm not sure if screen resolution has anything to do with it. When I enlarge it it looks the same and I'm working on a 16" Macbook Pro.

Nicole,

I believe the long answer is Ctrl/Cmd+E.

You are welcome, Nicole.

If you like to use GPU (this is what GPU is about),
https://helpx.adobe.com/illustrator/kb/gpu-performance-preview-improvements.html

Graphics cards are included in the system requirements:
https://helpx.adobe.com/illustrator/system-requirements.html

https://helpx.adobe.com/illustrator/system-requirements/earlier-versions.html

https://helpx.adobe.com/illustrator/system-requirements-old-versions.html

Apart from an inadequate card, issues can be caused by lack of driver updating, lack of proper recognition of the card by the computer, and whatnot (including rifts in the space time, moon, weather, and the fact that Illy sometimes moves in mysterious ways).

Here are a few more pages about GPU troubleshooting:
