width tool: keep nodes where they are when extend line?

Hi, I'm working with line drawings just now and set the width of my line to accentuate specific areas of my drawing. Great.

However, when I then extend that line, or add two sections together, all those width settings get redistributed. 

Is there a way to lock width nodes to curve points?

Nope. Those things are always relative to the length of the path, just like brushes.

Fair enough, but can we encourage a development where we can opt to have it remain linked to the nodes?

As for as I know there is no way to lock Width Tool nodes.
