Will running Adobe programmes from an external HD improve performance ?

I am currently working off a 2017 Mac with 8gb Ram and 1tb fusion drive. I need to run predominantly illustrator, photoshop and indesign. These processes together are very difficult and often result in persistent computer crashes and slow operations etc etc. I am aware a switch to an SSD and at least 16gb would help. However, a colleague has suggested i run the software from an external HD. Firstly, whilst it is evident that this might be possible. Can anyone say definitively that this will improve performance? Additionally, I would have thought the programmes still need to use the RAM to handle the running of the software?

I moved your post over from the poorly named "Using the Community" forum, which is for getting help using this forum system, to a better forum.

I hope this helps. Best of luck to you.

In all honesty you have a very Low Powered computer. Only 8 GBs of RAM!!! That is most of your problem. Fusion Drive? I though Apple stopped doing that.

To answer your EHD question, Not really.
