InCopy not recognizing Adobe font if same font exists in Windows font

New Here ,
Jan 26, 2021 Jan 26, 2021

Our InDesign users are all on MACs.  They are using ALL Adobe activated fonts.  Our InCopy users are all on PC's.  They activate the exact same fonts as the InDesign users.   Whenever our InDesign users select a Font that already exists as part of the Windows OS, InCopy reports it as a missing font.  We cannot remove the font from windows.   How can we FORCE InCopy to see the Adobe activated Fonts?   We have the preference set to Enable Adobe Fonts.  The ONLY way the font works is if we REMOVE it from the Windows Fonts folder - we cannot do that or Windows applications will break.   I was on a chat with Adobe for three hours and they had no solution.  They just kept having me activate and reactivate the Font.  Then they said the InDesign font was wrong, but it was not.  Any help would be appreciated.

Here are screen shots to show more detail.  The font is Source San Pro Regular.    It shows activated in BOTH fonts.adobe.com and creative cloud app.

And why when we filter Adobe Activated Fonts in InCopy, it does NOT show the Regular font as part of Adobe activated.  It is listed as a separate OTF  FONT.      If OTF is supposed to cross both windows and mac for Adobe products, why does InCopy say it is missing?

The OTF Font is part of Windows FONTs.  If OTF is supposed to cross both windows and mac for Adobe products, why does InCopy say it is missing?

I've seen this before and I believe it happens because the hierachy will always take the system font first...and then there is a conflict between the two. So it then ignores the Adobe one and says that it is missing - and InCopy treats them as different fonts. Not sure if it would make a difference but you could try placing the font in the "Fonts" folder that is found in the application folder for InCopy in the "Program Files" folder in the C drive. (My guess is you'd get the same issue, but I don't think there are any good solutions if you need it for the OS and deactivating the Adobe Fonts version doesn't help.)

Thanks - I had tried that already and it still said it was missing.   Not sure how to get Adobe to fix their product 😞
