InCopy2014 crashes whenever I leave notes

hi there. I'm new to the forum and the product. I'm using it for a project through a vendor. It's great...except when I try to use the note tool. It lets me start writing one, but then I can't go back to any other tool and it just tells me it's stopped working and send reports to Microsoft.

I'm using Windows 10. I'm at a loss and if I don't get this solved, I'll lose my ever-loving mind. Anyone have any experience or ideas? This is the only time it crashes. Thank you!!!!!

Why are you using 2014? You’re several versions out of date and even if there is a bug it will never be fixed.

Because that's the version the client uses and requested I use.

Is it fully patched? Check the cc desktop app for updates.

Remote chance that trashing preferences might help you. This is for InDesign but it works identically for InCopy : Troubleshooting 101: Replace, or "trash" your InDesign preferences

Thanks—I’ll try it!

Well...it's patched. And I deleted the preferences. It worked for a few hours the first time I did this, but then it started crashing again, and deleting the preferences didn't help. LOSING. MY. MIND. (and possibly this job if I don't fix this....) THANK YOU!!!
