Ältere InDesign-Version für macOS Monterey (18.5 oder 17.x)

New Here ,
May 24, 2025 May 24, 2025

Hallo zusammen,

Hi @dchr:

I'm sure your support representative explained the N, N-1 policy to you but for others seeing this thread down the road:

The only option to obtain installers is to plead your case (again) with Adobe directly—17 (N-3) and 18 (N-2) aren't available in the CC desktop app and we (this is a user-to-user forum) don't have access to them. The alternative is updating your Mac (system requirements: https://helpx.adobe.com/indesign/system-requirements.html) or if this is a brand new subscription within the cancellation window, to cancel the subscription: https://helpx.adobe.com/manage-account/using/cancel-subscription.html.

I'll be a bit more blunt than Barb. You cannot expect a computer to last forever. Your's is 10 years old and it's time for something new. Even if you could update the operating system my guess is that the rest of the system specifications would not allow InDesign to run.

The current version of InDesign is supported on Monterey. What kind of compatibility issues are you experiencing? How much RAM do you have?

Well yes. I'm on macOS Monterey v12.7.6 and I have installed and running InDesign 2024 v19.5 and InDesign 2025 v20.3.

And I do agree, one reason could be that the amount of your RAM is not sufficient to run InDesign 2024 or 2025.

Nevertheless, the Creative Cloud Desktop App should show the 2024 and 2025 versions of InDesign.

However, it will not show versions below 2024.

Echoing what @leo.r has said, both recent versions (cc2024 v19 and CC2025 v20) are definitely usable in Monterey, so I am also curious what error you might be seeing. That being said, on installing Photoshop it "warns" you that it may not work at its best on Monterey, but even it will still install.

I'm guessing a ten-year old MacBook Air is going to have other issues, but yeah, I missed that it was running Monterey which I think is the end of the line for that hardware. Kicking the can down the road for a horrible user experience is not something I can possibly recommend.

Indeed.

That model Air was only available with 4GB or 8GB onboard memory anyway. If they only have 4, they are out of luck, and 8 is not much better.
