Hello everybody!

i'm trying to play a practical joke on one of my coleagues, by changing all the names of the paragraph styles to another language.

getting them and changing them is not much of a problem, but translating them... any way of sending from the script a string to google translate an retrieving the result?

How much is your practical joke worth?

There are APIs: https://developers.google.com/translate/

You can use Socket to access the APIs (or you can use ActionScript embedded in ScriptUI or a CS Extension).

Well, if a million characters goes for $20, and the average paragraph

style palette has 20 styles with a name of 10 characters each on

average, you've got around 200 characters to translate. Comes to less

than one cent per practical joke! ($0.004 to be precise.)

Unless they charge $20 for the first mil. Then it'll cost a flat fee of $20 for a whole bunch of jokes...

P.S. Will I see you motzai Shabbos?

thanks. for a one-time joke... not worth it.

Anyway, i'we done it using the magic of copy-paste (two scripts -one to output all the names, anoter to change them based on a long string). all i can tell you is i haven't had such a laugh in ages. the translation itself is absolutly crazy ('Liste 1 Standard' translated form German to Romanian comes out something like 'Winter's first'), and the face of my coleague... priceless!!

ps. what's motzai Shabbos?

I'm making a party for my son's bar mitzvah on Saturday night. Ariel lives near me and I was asking whether he was planning on coming...
