Adobe InDesign 20.4 June release. The AI "check your available credits" pop-up is crashing the app

Greetings, as of today, every time I attempt to use the generative AI feature in the contextual task bar I get a pop-up prompting me to check my available credits (I have 6000 credits avail.) and then I'm locked out of the app. I can't work, I can't cancel out or close out of the popup window. I have to force quit and then restart — but the same thing happens again if I want to use the AI features. Super annoying.  Can you pls advise. I'm all up to date on Adobe app installs. currently on a Mac Mini with an M2 Pro chip and current OS. Thanks.

Hi everyone,

Thanks again for reporting this and really appreciate your patience.

Our product team has shared that a few fixes have been implemented for this 'check your available credits' pop-up issue in the upcoming InDesign 20.5 PreRelease build (#20.5.0.42). If you're experiencing this where the popup cannot be dismissed (even with the Escape key), please try using this PreRelease version to see if the issue is resolved there.

If you don't already have access to the PreRelease program, you

Hello @JasonCarr,

I am sorry to hear about your experience. Could you share a small screen recording of your exact workflow and the problem, so I can check this with the team?

Also, try signing out of the Creative Cloud Desktop application, and then signing back in to see if it helps.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

I know I am not the person who asked about it, but I have the same issue, here is the video of the crash: I can not click anywhere or close the pop up.

I'm having the exact same issue in InDesign as JasonCarr and sotec. No problem with AI features until the "check your available credits" popup.

Hi everyone,

Thanks for flagging this. That 'check your available credits' popup definitely shouldn't be locking you out of the app like that.

Could you try pressing the 'Escape' key when the popup appears and see if it closes or lets you interact with the app again?

Also, really appreciate the details you've already shared. Please keep us posted on whether Escape helps, or if the issue continues after trying that.

I'm here to help!

Abhishek

I am having the same problem, pressing the "Escape" key removes the pop up window but comes right back when I try to use it.
