Adobe InDesign crashing while creating new Book

Hi there,

I'm trying to create a book file, usually this goes without any issues, up until today. It crashes my InDesign whenever I give it a try. I tried clearing the caches and preferences to no avail. Using an older version of InDesign or re-installing didn't work either. Trying to convert to IDML before re-saving as INDD wouldn't do the trick either. I'm out of options. Any clue on what to do?

Love to know,

Cheers.

Good morning Srishti,

Thank you for the suggestion -- I've solved (or rather bypassed) the issue by downgrading back to a previous build of InDesign. That way I was able to solve the problem. I understand that new builds bring new, unforseen issues along with them whilst fixing previously known bugs and such, so I'm just going to assume this would be one of those.

Cheers.

Are you try to create directly on your HDD or on some cloud-drive?

Hi George,

I tried both locally and on a server. Both result in the same crash, although the logs may differ.

Cheers.

Hi there,

Sorry about the delay.  I am hopeful that the issue is fixed by now. If not, please try the steps shared on this page ( https://community.adobe.com/t5/indesign/advanced-troubleshooting-for-launch-issues/td-p/11394034?pag... ) and share your observations with us.

While performing each step, please make sure that InDesign and other Adobe apps are closed.

Feel free to let us know if you still need assistance. We'd be happy to help.

Regards,

Srishti
