Hello,
I need some advice. We recently set up InDesign Server CS6 (version 8.0), and the activation was successful during installation. However, we encountered an issue when trying to run instances of InDesign Server CS6, as an error message appears stating: "Adobe InDesign Server is not properly licensed."
We have a perpetual license, which allows activation on two devices. The issue began after our server experienced a disk failure. We restored the server using a backup recovery file, maintaining the same IP and MAC address. However, after recovery, when we attempt to run the instance, it reports that it is not properly licensed.
We attempted to re-serialize it using the command line, but it did not resolve the issue.
adobe_prtk --tool=Serialize --leid=InDesignServer-CS6-Win-GM --serial=1122-0000-1687-0000-6120-0000 --adobeid=test@test.com.my (with correct serial key n email)
Is there anyone can advise me on how to fix this?
Than you.

Most likely, only Adobe support can provide any assistance on this.

Yaa, I chatted with Adobe Support the other day, but they said, 'Unfortunately, this version has reached the end of its life.
You will have to connect with community.adobe.com for further assistance regarding the usage."

Well. This reply from Adobe means that you're on your own in this situation. There's some hope that someone here may have a solution but this might as well won't happen.
I assume your situation prevents you from just upgrading to the current InDesign Server version?

I guess so. The last resort is to upgrade the IDS version. However, the problem is that if we upgrade InDesign Server, we will also need to upgrade all InDesign software on the users' machines, as we are currently using the CS6 version of InDesign.
Ya hopefully someone here might help or give some opinion regarding the issue. Thanks Leo!

I'm just guessing here, but I suspect the activation is tied to the serial number of the failed drive and the ne drive is seen as a new install. Can you find a way to deactivate the old drive installation in your account, then activate again using the current drive?

Yeah, @Peter Spier is right.
@Liyana5E6A, as you've restored from the backup - your old installation is tied to the old hardware configuration.
Looks like response from Adobe representative confirms, that servers for CS6 are down / off-line?
Which doesn't make sense - as you've been able to activate it?

Someone recently posted resolution for something completely different - Publish Online - and the solution was to turn off company's FIREWALL...
Maybe you've the same problem - your recovered installation can't connect with outside world - Adobe's servers?

There are tools to change S/N - but in this case - it depends how Adobe software works - if it is tied to the S/N of the physical drive - or to the S/N generated by Windows during partitioning and formatting.

@Robert at ID-Tasker and @Liyana5E6A I was thinking maybe it would be possible to log into the Adob Account to which the program is registered at adobe.com, go to Manage Account and from there see the ist of activated devices and deactivate.
Might be necessary to then run the cleaner tool and reinstall.

Not sure that's possible for CS6 products, though.
I think, however, that if you get back to Adobe support and actually talk to a supervisor they would have the ability to deactivate. Seems like we've seen folks having that done, but perehaps its no longer possible -- I know they won't reset the activation count.

Yeah, CS6 is rather out of the question to deactivate online.
But OP said that he was able to activate it online - it's just the application itself, when run - can't verify activation's status?
