After indesign crash, file won't open, recovery fails

Hi community, I have a 94 page indesign file (latest version 2021 16.4, OSX Catalina) that crashed indd and I can't clear the 'recovery request' dialogue box when I try to open the file, whatever option I choose (recover, no) indesign tries to open the file, freezes and crashes. I have tried leaving it for up to an hour, no joy. I've restarted, and reinstalled indesign.

There is data in the file, and I don't get a corrupt/error message.

Indesign also having trouble on start up - crashes on 'start up panels'

Yes ! Thank you so much ! I was able to open the file and resave it - I can see I have only lost a page of data (which is now blank) but that is an easy fix. Thank you - were you able to figure out what the issue was? - Emma

No - it just opened for me - took a few minutes. But I was able to resave it as an IDML.
