(Alt + Mouse Wheel) Zoom shortcut no longer working after updating to InDesign 2024 | Windows 11

New Here ,
Oct 18, 2023 Oct 18, 2023

I can no longer zoom in while holding alt and scrolling up on the mouse wheel.

I can zoom out with no issues while holding alt and scrolling down. If I hold alt and scroll up, it immediately zooms me out. Basically, if I hold alt and scroll the mouse wheel in any direction, it zooms me out.

I have opened Photoshop and Illustrator, and they are working fine, as far as being able to zoom in and out with the alt key shortcut.

Is anyone else experiencing this issue after the InDesign update?

Issue resolved. Apparently, InDesign 2024 and a Microsoft mouse aren't compatible anymore. Switched to a different mouse and no issues.

I found the workaround and the possible reason for this.

So if you download Microsofts Mouse and Keyboard Center Software and open it, choose your mouse and then select Wheel (Scrollwheel or whatever it is called in english) you will see the options and custom properties for the mousewheel. There is an option that says something in the sense of "Identify Programs for which the scrolling does not function as it should". Click this and manually add the .exe file of any Adobe program that has issues

I've just noticed this bug too when using a Microsoft mouse with InDesign. It's unfortunate if it is a problem with compatibility...

I'm having the same issue and it is definetly my microsoft mouse. Very unfortunate considering it is the only brand of mouse I currently have. Hopefully Adobe gets the compatabilty issue fixed

Have any of you checked for updated mouse drivers? Microsoft does update them for their hardware. You can find the latest here: Mouse and Keyboard Center download - Microsoft Support

Cheers!

PS: Screenshot is in German, but I think it still helps to see which menu it is.
