InDesign could be more oriented towards web design and CSS. Setting auto layouts and auto-spacing within a grouping would be a real time saver.

It could, but InDesign is not a web design progam; it is set up for print design.
For web design, try Dreamweaver.

Sure I know, I do use it for print. But sometimes this feature is missing imo.
It has the option for Auto-Sizing. But it doesn't respect nearby objects. Simple example attached.
