Automatically change Conditional Text based on the alt layout view

Essentially I have numerous indd files setup with placed and linked text on two layouts, a Letter and an A4 page by using the Alt layouts option. This works great however I want to utilize conditional text so that if someone view or exports the Letter version the UK conditional option will be off or not visible and vice versa in the A4 version, however both layouts will have the same linked text so any major edits will be retained and updated in both versions of the document.

Thanks!

Conditional works for me across two documents.

Have you experimented with Edit > Place and Link? (and Map Styles, probably, too)

and this script might help you:
