I need to automate the content editing of a ready-made indesign file, to be used as the basis for others, and the export to pdf of each.
It is a series of books, the changes are only for text and images and the layout will remain the same for all books.
I could prepare a folder for each book with a folder inside for the doc texts already formatted (the indesing file already has the text styles set up) and one for the images to be replaced.
Beyond what has been already mentioned, after the books are exported, it may be necessary to batch update all the books with regard to
- adding a page
- moving a piece of content to another page
- replacing an image or text
What are the recommended steps? I am not a programmer but I can learn.
Meanwhile I would need to understand the approach, whether xml/idml or a custom script?
