Hi greetings to all, I am writing on this forum to ask if with the latest version of Indesign it is possible to save the interface settings to use them on another computer or simply to recall them after installing Indesign?

I hope I have explained, many thanks

Hi jelux,

If by interface settings, you mean the interface preferences, those are saved in the InDesign preferences files. So if you want to recall them, you could copy the preference file or folder to your new computer/installation and those settings should be retained. You can find the preferences in the locations below.

Mac OS X

APPLICATION "ROAMING DATA FOLDER"

  • /Users/[User Name]/Library/Preferences/Adobe InDesign/Version #

APPLICATION "LOCAL CACHED DATA FOLDER"

  • /Use

"is possible to save the interface settings to use them on another computer"

Yes.

If you work with the same version of InDesign and the same version of the operating system on both machines. Simply do all your settings in the user interface of your version of InDesign on one machine. Then quit InDesign. While you quit all your settings are written to the Preferences and Caches of InDesign in your file system.

Now backup both Version 17.0 folders from InDesign cache and preferences.

Chad gave you the position of the folders in your machine's user folder.

To "install" your settings on the other machine simply exchange the Version 17.0 folders on the other machine when InDesign does not run.

Note: I practiced this various times successfully.

Also note, that settings like *.joboptions files for PDF Export are not part of the Version 17.0 folders. Also *.csf files for Adobe Color Settings, because they can be used with e.g. Adobe Illustrator and Adobe PhotoShop as well.
